Dosages and strengths

Olanzapine is available in two strengths, 30 mg and 60 mg, and can be taken either once a day or twice a day. In addition, Olanzapine is available as 5 mg and 10 mg tablets. The 5 mg dose is not approved by the FDA for the treatment of bipolar mania, and it is not approved by the FDA for the treatment of schizophrenia.

Contraindications

Olanzapine should not be used in the following cases:

  • In patients with hypersensitivity to alanine or valrine
  • In patients with severe liver disease or severe renal impairment

Side effects
